A few useful answers.

What is free, and what needs Pro?

Opening, browsing, previewing and extracting supported archives are free, including encrypted archives, multi-volume archives, partial extraction and ZIP filename encoding tools. Unwrap Pro is a one-time purchase for creating ZIP, 7z and tar.gz archives, ZIP encryption, presets and media packing.

How do I open or extract an archive?

Open Unwrap and choose the archive-opening action on the home screen, then select a file through Files. Browse the contents and choose all or selected items to extract. Pick a destination folder when asked. You can also share a file to Unwrap from another app; after import completes, open Unwrap to continue.

Why are the filenames garbled?

Some ZIP files use a filename encoding from another language or operating system. Open the filename encoding control in the archive browser, try the appropriate encoding, and check the preview. Common choices include GBK or GB18030 for simplified Chinese, Big5 for traditional Chinese, and Shift-JIS for Japanese. Encoding changes cannot repair names that were already corrupted when the archive was created.

Why won't an archive open or extract?

Make sure the download has finished and the file provider has made the archive available locally. Check that you have enough free storage for both temporary work and the extracted result. For encrypted files, confirm the password. For multi-volume archives, make every part available together and open the first part. A listed format may still contain an unsupported compression method, or the archive may be damaged.

Where are my files saved?

Extracted files go to the destination you choose through Files. Archives you create can be saved in the Unwrap folder or another chosen location. The Unwrap folder appears in Files and belongs to the app: deleting Unwrap also deletes that folder. Move anything you want to keep elsewhere before uninstalling. In Settings, choose Move All to Another Folder… to move saved files out of the Unwrap folder. Successfully moved files are removed from their original location.

What does Clear Temporary Files remove?

In Settings → Storage, Clear Temporary Files removes working copies used for previews and archive operations. It does not delete saved archives in the Unwrap folder or your original files in Files. Pending imports from the share menu are kept, so the temporary storage total may not drop to zero. Most working copies are cleaned up after use; some sharing copies remain briefly or until the next launch.

What does Filter system extras do?

This setting skips .DS_Store, __MACOSX, Thumbs.db and desktop.ini when creating or extracting archives. These files usually contain system metadata. Turn it off in Settings → Archive & Extraction if you need to include them. The original archive and source files are not modified.

How do I restore Unwrap Pro?

Use the Apple Account that made the purchase. Open Settings in Unwrap, open Unwrap Pro, and choose Restore Purchase if Pro is not unlocked. An internet connection may be needed to check the purchase. If it still isn't available, contact us with the app version, device model and a description of the issue. Never send your Apple Account password.

Can Unwrap create password-protected 7z or RAR files?

Unwrap creates ZIP, 7z and tar.gz archives. Password protection when creating an archive is available for ZIP, using AES-256 or the older ZipCrypto compatibility mode. Unwrap can read supported RAR archives but does not create RAR files.

Does Unwrap upload my archives?

Archive processing happens locally on your device. Unwrap does not send your archive contents to our servers. If you choose iCloud Drive or another file provider, that service handles the storage and transfer under its own settings and privacy policy.
