Open a video from your local files, choose the spoken language in the player’s subtitle controls, and enable automatic subtitles. For bilingual viewing, choose a translation language with Pro. Availability is checked on your device.

Common questions

Which devices and languages are supported?

SubFlow requires iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 or later. Playback and automatic subtitles have different requirements: recognition and Apple translation depend on device capabilities, language support, and installed models. The app checks availability at runtime. If recognition is unavailable, you can continue playback and use existing subtitles.

Why are automatic subtitles missing or delayed?

Check that automatic subtitles are selected, the spoken language matches the audio, and required models are installed. Allow model downloads to finish, check available storage, and keep SubFlow in the foreground while processing. If the app shows an unsupported language or device message, use an existing subtitle track. Music, overlapping voices, and unclear speech can affect results.

What happens after the free 10 minutes?

The free limit applies to automatic recognition for the first 10 minutes of each video. Full video playback and existing embedded or external subtitles remain available. Pro enables recognition beyond this limit, plus its other listed features.

Can SubFlow work offline?

Local playback and supported on-device recognition/Apple translation can work once the required models and files are downloaded. Network media sources, BYOK services, model downloads, and App Store transactions need access to their respective services. A file visible in Files may still need downloading from its provider.

Why can’t I connect to my NAS or media server?

All supported network sources are free, including SMB, WebDAV, FTP/FTPS, Emby, and Jellyfin. Check the address, protocol, port, credentials, and network connection. For a local server, allow Local Network access in iOS Settings and make sure the device can reach the server. SubFlow browses and plays remote files; it does not upload, rename, or delete them.

How do I restore a purchase?

Make sure the App Store is using the Apple Account that purchased SubFlow Pro, then open Settings → SubFlow Pro → Restore Purchase in SubFlow. Allow the App Store connection to complete. If access is still missing, contact support with the error message; do not send card details or your Apple Account password.

How do I cancel, change plans, or request a refund?

Manage your subscription in Apple’s subscription settings. You can also open Settings → your name → Subscriptions on iPhone or iPad. Cancellation stops future renewals; access normally continues through the paid period. Deleting SubFlow does not cancel a subscription. Refund requests are handled by Apple at Report a Problem.

Will I lose my subtitles if Pro expires?

Existing generated, translated, edited, and exported subtitles are not deleted or shortened. You can continue to play and view saved content; exporting subtitle files again requires an active Pro subscription. New processing returns to free limits, and Pro processing/queues pause with committed progress preserved until Pro is available again.

Does Picture in Picture show SubFlow’s subtitles?

Picture in Picture currently carries video and audio, but not subtitles drawn by SubFlow. Use the in-app player to view those subtitles.

Can I export subtitle files or a video with subtitles?

An active Pro subscription is required to export SRT, VTT, ASS, or TXT subtitle files, without SubFlow attribution. This also applies to existing embedded, imported, and previously saved subtitles. Importing, viewing, and automatic in-app saving remain available without Pro. Video export is not currently available.

Where are my data and API keys stored?

Subtitles, translations, preferences, and caches are stored locally. Server credentials and API keys use the system Keychain. Optional API services receive subtitle text and necessary context only when you configure and enable them. See the privacy policy for details, including website hosting and support email.
